The Estate

Piesport

Weingut Reinhold Haart lies only a few meters from the Mosel river, on the romantic, peaceful Ausonius riverbank. Immediately behind the family's estate, the Piesporter Goldtröpfchen vineyard begins its uphill climb, and only a few steps from the winery are the remains of the first and oldest Roman grape pressing house that has been unearthed along the Mosel.

Since 1337

The Haart family's viticultural tradition has been documented since 1337. The Haarts are probably Piesport's oldest wine-growing family, as well as one of the oldest private wine estates in the entire Mosel region. Today's Weingut Reinhold Haart stems from these traditional, family beginnings. Karl-Theo Haart has managed the estate since 1971 and has stamped its structure and wine style ever since. In 2015 his sons Johannes and Marcus Haart took over the family business.

Riesling. Steep. Slate. Nothing more.

With its 8.0 ha of vineyards - exclusively in steep sites - the estate is committed to the best of what the Mosel has to offer: Riesling. The portfolio specializes in a broad range of distinctive wines with a natural, fruity sweetness and great ageing potential. Thanks to cool fermentation with natural yeasts, the wines are extraordinarily fresh even many years after bottling.

VDP - Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates

Since 1992 Weingut Reinhold Haart is a member of the 1910 founded Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates (VDP). Which means that the Haart estate as well as the 200 other quality-oriented german vintners focus on an origin-centered wineculture with highest standards. To produce wines on these high levels the estates have to meet specific quality-standards which are set by the VDP.

Longevity through accurateness

The family-company Haart cultivates its steep vineyards with great diligence and is especially interested in a responsible handling with the culture-product "wine". This implies a nature-orientated viniculture with a support of beneficial organisms and integrated plant protection. Since 2014 the estate works in these matters together with its partner FAIR'N GREEN which guarantees nature protection, corporate citizenship and sustainable operational management. This way all wines are produced responsible to human and nature.
